Reiki Master-Teacher. Ritual Theater artist. Feminist theologian. Founder of Devi Reiki™.
Emery Star Lauten is an 8x Reiki Master trained in various styles and systems of Reiki. She received her first Reiki Master initiation in 2008 and has been studying and practicing the energetic and spiritual healing arts since 1991.
In 2014-2015, she was voted internationally by her peers as the 20th best Reiki practitioner in the United States and was published in a book recognizing this honor.
Emery is a Certified Human Rights Consultant and holds certification in trauma-informed coaching, as well as specialized training for working with highly sensitive people. This foundation informs every aspect of her healing work and teaching.
Since 2018, Emery has been developing Devi Reiki™, a new system of feminist, trauma-informed, earth-centered Reiki that articulates a theology rooted in reverence for the Earth as a living goddess.
Educational foundation
BA in Ritual Theater | Drake University
Emery holds a Bachelor of Arts from Drake University in Ritual Theater. This interdisciplinary program combined:

- • Liberation theology and feminist ethics
- • Ecological ethics
- • Women's studies and cultural studies
- • Special studies in the use of ritual for personal and social transformation
Ritual Theater Production
Emery wrote and directed a Ritual Theater production at the Civic Center of Des Moines, Iowa, which drew standing-room-only crowds. Her work demonstrates a lifelong commitment to using ritual and performance as tools for transformation.
Priestess & Theological Training
Building on her academic foundation in religion and ethics, Emery pursued professional priestess training through the Cella Priestess Training Program at the Women's Thealogical Institute. There she studied women's spirituality, ritual energetics, feminist thealogy, environmental ethics, and earth-based spiritual practice, grounding her work in embodied ritual leadership.
Spiritual lineages & initiations
Reiki Master (8x)
Trained and initiated as a Reiki Master in multiple styles and systems of Reiki, including Usui Reiki Ryoho, Usui-Tibetan, Karuna, Holy Fire, and other lineages. First Reiki Master initiation received in 2008.
Shaktipat Diksha Giver
Trained and initiated as a Shaktipat Diksha giver through a Tantric Hindu spiritual lineage from India. Shaktipat is the transmission of spiritual energy from teacher to student that activates a process of spiritual Awakening.
Tantric Tibetan Buddhism
Initiated into the Sakya lineage of Tantric Tibetan Buddhism by Lama Migmar Tseten. Initiated into Dakini ritual work and Tibetan elemental mandala with Vicki Noble. Studied Tantric Tibetan Buddhism with Robert Thurman, Ph.D. and Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D.
Applied Shamanism
Studied Applied Shamanism to advanced levels with the Foundation of the Sacred Stream; Core Shamanism with The Foundation for Shamanic Studies; and trained with direct lineage shamans from Africa and Hawaii.
Hawaiian Shamanic Lineage
Trained in Ho'oponopono with Kumu Pa'a Lawrence Kalainia Kamani Aki, a 50th generation Hawaiian shaman from the Island of Molokai, connecting to indigenous earth-honoring practices.
Dianic Tradition Priestess
Trained in feminist Wiccan practice (Dianic Tradition) with The Women's Thealogical Institute and with Ruth Barrett, including initiations into women's mysteries and earth-based ritual leadership.
Channel & Oracle
More than a decade of experience serving as a verbal Channel and Oracle, offering direct spiritual transmission and guidance through trance states and mystical practice.
Munay-Ki Rites
Trained and initiated to teach the Rites of the Munay-Ki — sacred rites of passage of the Shamans of the Q'ero Nation of the Andes in Peru. These rites are designed to help practitioners embody the role of Earthkeeper and to be a benefit to Pachamama and humanity.

Professional experience
Emery has been studying and practicing the energetic and spiritual healing arts since 1991, over three decades of dedicated practice, training, and service, working with both individuals and groups.
She worked professionally under the name Healing Rituals for many years, serving clients through in-person and remote healing sessions. Through these years of practice, Emery not only developed expertise in Reiki and shamanic healing processes, she also developed a deep capacity for sustained relational presence through sacred witnessing and trauma-informed awareness, supporting her clients through a wide range of life circumstances.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she refined and formalized her approach to remote Devi Reiki™ healing sessions via Zoom, developing a method that ensures depth, energetic integrity, and embodied safety while working across distance. This innovation has allowed her to serve clients globally while improving the efficacy and intimacy of her work.

Forbes Books recognized Emery as a "mission-driven thought leader with something to teach," and worked with her to develop a detailed book plan centered on Devi Reiki™.
Emery is currently writing her book independently, continuing the development of this work.
